Whitsundays - Part 2
Thursday 27th July
I awoke to a beautiful pre-dawn light with a chorus of just about everything chirping away behind us on the island.
The sea was like a mirror and the morning swim was the best I’ve ever experienced – no-one about. The Captain had suggested a pre-breakfast snorkel and I swam over to meet the tender and the few peeps who also fancied a dip. The coral was better here but all the fish seemed to be on breakfast break themselves as it was pretty empty! This was our last major activity before scooting back to
Apparently the technical term is ‘jiving’, but for me it was a chance to dash about the boat helping out before sitting at the back with my namesake and shooting the breeze with two girls – one from France ( who I’d spotted the previous day ;-0)) and the other from Quebec – but don’t be fooled, she was a lovely lass!
That evening was a boat reunion in ‘Beaches’ backpackers – with the first few beers laid on for free. Ours was sadly a pretty poor showing but as I had to get a wriggle on to Townsville and Ingham for the van service – that was no bad thing!
