Darwinium - the return!
Sunday 17th September
Arriving back in Darwin was a bit of a shock – it was hotter and more humid than Bali and I wasn’t feeling the ‘Georgie’ after next to no sleep and the delayed flight.
A couple of hours shut-eye was all I could grab due to the heat – Darwin was scorching hot - before I sallied forth in search of an air-conditioned Gloria Jeans!
I found out that Conrad and Romy had also arrived from the east coast and so we were all out for a few sherbets to catch up – waytago. In the event, I think we were all pretty dog-tired, although Cris and I had put the hard yards in with respect to the late nights and I was beginning to get my second wind but I erred on the side of caution and shit-canned it too!
The week itself was spent running around getting the van fixed – replacement sway bar bushes and new gearbox rear mount - which was perished. Fucking annoyingly, the gearbox mount they’d ordered was the wrong part and the proper part is 4-6 weeks ex-Japan. This was the main thing I needed doing too. Having tried a couple of breakers yards with no luck, the answer appears to be ordering it in Perth when I get there – I reckon I’ll be there a coupla months at least anyway.
Managed to get quite a bit of the blog done and also tried gamely to get rid of the Trojan virus I picked up in Bali but to no avail – grrr. Managed to download some wicked podcasts though – Trance generation with DJ Addison – class.
I had pencilled in Thursday or Friday for the departure to Litchfield and Kakadu and it appeared we had Company – 2 other German lasses in a less-than-reliable van were wanting to join in – why not huh?! The British have always persevered in the face of apparently insurmountable odds and I figured I might learn some more German!!
Needed that leak!!!
